Busy Bee.

Hello!

Last night a group of girls from work, my niece Taeler, and I all went to dinner at Red Robin and then went to see the “Twilight Breaking Dawn” movie.  I planned ahead for dinner because I didn’t want to fall off the wagon.  My niece and I decided to split the burger and fries, which gave us each about 5 fries (not to bad.)  Then we shared a dessert, which was delicious!  I enjoyed my food without having to go deep in the ground with my calories.  The movie was awesome too!  I just hate having to wait another year to see the final movie.

My niece Taeler and I.

Today also started out very busy with lots of things on the agenda.  First thing was getting new tires on my car!  So grateful to have gotten that done and out of the way.  No more turning corners at 10mph in the rain because my car has lots of grip now J.  Then Aaron and I had a shopping adventure planned, which I know he wasn’t thrilled about.  We first went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch because I had been craving it and I figured it could be my cheat meal for the week.  It was tasty even though I ate way to many calories!  They asked us if we wanted to donate to “Make A Wish” and I told Aaron of course we have to!  Since my nephew Ramsey got to “Make A Wish” a while back it only seemed fair to help some other child get one J.  Then we proceeded on to Ikea to check out home stuff.  Let me say I love that store!  I could spend so much money there!  It was nice to get a feel for things Aaron likes for home ideas.  Then we went to the Clackamas mall, which was clearly a dumb idea around the Holiday’s!  It was crazy busy!  Thankfully Aaron only needed some dress shirts so we got them and got the heck out of there.

By the time we got most of the stuff done off our list it was already 4pm and I hadn’t got my run in for the day.  So I had to cancel some dinner plans with a friend and I was really bummed about that.  She was having a small group of girls come over to hear about her weight loss and healthy lifestyle change.  I’d been looking forward to it for a few weeks.  I plan to catch up with her over lunch sometime soon.

Aaron and I before our run.

Since I was home for the night and it was going to be dark soon Aaron and I headed out on our run.  Today was Week 6 Day 3 (Couch to 5k) and I had to run 25 minutes.  I kicked ass and it felt so good to have Aaron by my side.  I did realize that my ankle socks weren’t the best for running though.  I have a rub burn on my ankle that hurts pretty bad L.  After that we both grabbed some protein packed dinner and headed home to watch “Ghost Busters II.”  Yeah we are that cool!

My poor ankle after running tonight.

Thursday Rants.

Hello!

Today was a slow day at work for which I am very thankful.  The first 3 days of the work week were busy and exhausting.  Plus since starting Monday out going back to no soda I’ve had awful headaches each and every day!  Oh and did I mention my sleep has been crappy too!  Hopefully the headaches and the sleep get better ASAP!  I did get to get my car vacuumed out on lunch today and that made me happy.

This evening I ran (Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 2) and it was a bit of a struggle.  I seem to have such better runs on weekends when I get to wake up refreshed and run versus having to run after working a full day.  My Mom made an awesome steak dinner for after my run so that was awesome.  Lots of protein!

Tired Tuesday.

Hello!

Sorry for skipping out yesterday on my writing, but it was a pretty boring day.  It was my off day for running and it was just a busy day at work.  I did stay on track with eating though which made me happy!

Today was also a very busy day at work and it was also a run day.  I was exhausted and felt kind of sluggish today during my run (Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 1.)  I realized that I like running weekend mornings much better than evenings after I’ve worked all day.  But, I made it through my run and that’s all that matters!

My eating today was on track until dinner when I went over.  Then I ran and got myself corrected.  But, then I just had some darn popcorn that set me over again.  At least it was popcorn and not a full-blown meal or even a sweet snack.  I guess that’s better than what it could have been.  I went over my calories, fat, and sodium for the day, but I don’t expect it to be perfect everyday.

I learned last night that I really enjoy reading other peoples fitness and health blogs.  I stayed up way to late last night reading peoples blogs talking about food, fitness, and struggles.  It’s fascinating to me to read about other people’s ups and downs just so I know I’m not the only one.  Plus some people have amazing tips that I appreciate them sharing.

Week 5 Done!

Hello!

Sunday mornings are normally not my favorite because I know they are my last day to enjoy sleeping in before I have to go back to work for five dreaded days!  However this morning it was a mix of good and bad because I knew I had a very challenging (to me) run ahead of myself.  Guess what though?!?  I did it!  I ran for 20 minutes straight without stopping or walking.  I just kept telling myself you will NOT stop unless your legs literally give out on you.  I’m so super proud of myself and very happy!

I did it!

Later on in the afternoon I went over to Aaron’s for lunch with his family, it was tasty.  Then Aaron and I got into a conversation about my finances, which I will not go into detail about here.  But, we did come to an understanding and that is something’s have to change for others to improve J.  So I need to work on getting a few things turned around very soon financially and things will start looking up in that department.  After all that serious talk we decided to watch the classic movie “Ghostbusters” because it turns out neither of us had seen it before.  It was pretty entertaining and we both agreed we’d have to watch “Ghostbusters II” next time.

All in all it was a good Sunday.

Busy Saturday!

Hello!

Going to sleep last night I had one thing on my mind I wanted to do today.  Scrap book!  But, instead I got caught up in helping my parents decorate the house for Christmas J.  Don’t get me wrong I love Christmas and all the decorations, but it’s not what I had in mind for my relaxing day off.  It took my Dad and I the entire day to get all the lights up and working properly.  Then just a few minutes ago when I looked out to see them I noticed we’d blown yet another fuse L.  So I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow morning.

Outside Christmas Lights (Sorry it's so dark)
Inside decorations (Sorry it's so dark)

Finally this evening though I did get to work on scrap booking.  I left off last time in photos of April 2011 so I had a few months to catch up on.  I didn’t get it finished, but I put a good dent in it and really enjoyed working on it.  Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have a little time to work on it again or later on this week.  I also started designing Christmas cards for Aaron and I to send out to family J.

Me laying out all my scrap booking stuff!

Tomorrow I have my Week 5 Day 3 (Couch to 5k) to run and I’m not going to lie I’m nervous, but excited for the challenge!  I’m supposed to run for 20 minutes with no walking!  I’ve never in my life run for that long without stopping or walking.  It’ll also be interesting to see if I can run it at my normal 5.2, which is what I run at on the treadmill.  If I have to slow it down to 5.0 I will just to make it through the 20 minutes without walking.  I’ll post tomorrow about how it went!  Wish me luck.

Moving On and Letting Go...

Hello!

Let’s start out by saying I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family yesterday.  I have a pretty large immediate family and it’s always nice when we can all get together and catch up.  My nieces and nephews are all growing up so fast!  Plus of course plenty of delicious food.  In my Mom’s opinion calories don’t count on Thanksgiving...

Today started out great!  I woke up and made a healthy breakfast for myself to start the day out right.  However, I did manage to burn my left hand pointer finger right on top by the nail so that put a little damper on things for a bit.  I even started logging some food into MyFitnessPal again today!  Around 10:30am I figured it was time to get my butt on the treadmill and get Week 5 Day 2 (Couch to 5k) done!  And let me tell you I did it!  The first 8-minute interval I had to run was a piece of cake, but the second interval my legs felt like Jell-O.  I pushed through the entire workout, but I was so thankful when it was over.  I then proceeded to go through photos and get a bit of organizing done so I can catch up on my scrap booking J.  Aaron (boyfriend) came over later in the evening and we enjoyed a nice relaxing night in just the two of us watching movies.

Something did kind of put a crappy twist on my evening, but it was inevitable.  I’ve kind of come to realize lately that I don’t want negative people in my life and because of that I’m pretty positive one of my friendships ended tonight and the sad part is I’m not even upset about it.  Who wants to be friends with someone who likes to be intentionally cruel, bossy, and has no respect for your relationship with your significant other or anyone else’s for that matter?  No way in hell do I want a friend like that!  It sucks realizing it was time to let go, but some things can’t be taken back or forgiven.  I’m just thankful I have an amazing boyfriend/best friend who stands by my side through anything.

Putting MYSELF out on the line.

Hello!

I’m sorry I’ve been slacking so badly with keeping my blog up to date.  I started this blog because I thought it would be helpful for me to write about my Health journey, but I realized I only want to share my success and not my failures.  When I slip up I already feel like I fail myself so why would I want to widely announce it to everyone?  Because I need to be accountable!

In February 2010 when I decided to start this journey to becoming healthier, thinner, and happier it was something I didn’t know I could accomplish.  I’m not one to believe in myself when it comes to weight loss because in the past when I’ve attempted to lose weight if it didn’t work quickly I gave up.  I realize weight doesn’t come off over night just like it didn’t pile on over night, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want the impossible like many others in my situation.  However when I started out watching my calorie intake with “LoseIt!” and working out nightly with a good friend the weight started to come off!  I lost 4 pounds my first week and 4 pounds the second week.  I couldn’t have been happier with that, I mean clearly it was working.  I continued to lose weight every week for months!  I never felt like I was hungry or depriving myself which made it that much easier.  I wasn’t exactly noticing differences in my appearance, but people kept complimenting me on how much thinner I looked and that just made me the happiest!

Then February 2011 (this year) for some reason I fell off the wagon with my eating and exercise.  I stopped counting calories and stopped caring about what I was eating and how much of it I was eating like my old habits.  I kept telling myself you still fit in your size 6 jeans so it’s no big deal.  Then I stopped being able to wear my size 6 jeans and I kept saying it’s all right I’m still small.  Well I’m wearing my size 8 jeans which still make me happy from the 13-14 size I wore before I first started this journey, BUT I’m up 18.4 pounds exactly from last Thanksgiving!  I’m getting heavy again and unhappy with myself.  I’m getting teary just writing this.  I know I’m better than this and I know I deserve better for myself.

I have barely weighed myself from March to now because I knew I’d be disappointed that all that hard work I put into losing 30 pounds was ruined.  Every time I attempt to start eating healthier, lower calories again and working out it doesn’t feel like it did the first time, it doesn’t feel doable.  It’s stupid because I know I can be successful at weight loss, but I love food.  I have no reason to lie about it because the fact that I’m a little chubby speaks for itself.  I realize I’m not morbidly obese, but after seeing the way I was at my heaviest weight I will NEVER get that way again!

My eating is still crap and I need to get it under control.  But, I’ve been successful with exercise lately.  I figure if I can stay focused on one of the two for now I’m happy.  The past 5 weeks I’ve been doing the Couch to 5k app on my iPhone.  I’ve successfully made it to week 5 without having to alter the program in anyway.  It’s getting to the tough part of the program where I have to run for about 20 minutes without walking or stopping and I’ve never done that before EVER!  I’ll tell you though I’m going to push myself with everything I have inside of me because I’m determined to accomplish this goal I’ve set for myself.  I’ve asked my sister in law Shawna to run a 5k with me in January to start out the New Year the right way!  Based on the time I started this program if I can stay on track like I have been for 5 weeks I’ll finish the training program the week of Christmas so I’ll be good to run a 5k in January!

For those of you thinking that’s great that you are exercising, but eating healthy is just as important…I already know that!  But, that doesn’t make it any easier for me!  I’m doing what I can for myself right now and I’m happy that I’m still improving myself.  Changing a lifestyle like mine was never going to be something that happened over night and I should have known it wouldn’t come without obstacles.  I just have to learn to overcome them.  I realize I’ve had a major setback gaining back some of the weight I’ve lost, but I will not let this stop me from getting what I want.  It may take longer than it should have or I wanted it to, but that doesn’t mean I won’t appreciate it just as much when I finally get there.

This is my weight loss chart below.  I only weighed in on "LoseIt!" or "MyFitnessPal" on Monday's.
